Sports and activity-related injuries may affect ligaments, tendons, muscles, cartilage, bones or joints. Some occur suddenly after a twist, fall or impact, while others develop gradually through repeated loading. Accurate assessment is important because injuries with similar symptoms may require different treatment.
Our sports medicine approach considers the injured structure, the demands of the patient’s sport or activity, previous injuries and future goals. Treatment is designed not only to settle symptoms but also to restore strength, control and confidence before returning to higher-demand movement.
Care includes assessment of ligament tears, meniscus and cartilage injuries, tendon problems, muscle strains, shoulder instability, kneecap instability, fractures and overuse conditions. Examination focuses on pain, swelling, movement, stability and function, with imaging requested when it can clarify the diagnosis or guide treatment.
Many sports injuries can be treated without surgery through activity modification, appropriate symptom control and structured rehabilitation. Physiotherapy progresses movement, strength, balance, coordination and sport-specific control while monitoring how the injured area responds to increasing load.
Arthroscopy uses a small camera and specialised instruments introduced through small incisions to assess or treat selected joint problems. It may be considered for certain ligament, meniscus, cartilage or shoulder injuries when clinical findings, imaging, symptoms and functional demands support operative treatment.
Return to activity is based on healing, movement quality, strength, stability and task-specific readiness rather than time alone. The programme progresses from fundamental exercises to controlled drills and higher-demand activity, helping reduce avoidable overload and rebuild confidence safely.
We bring specialist assessment, appropriate imaging, surgical expertise when required and progressive rehabilitation into one coordinated pathway. Each plan is matched to the injury and the individual’s activity goals, with an emphasis on safe recovery, restored performance and prevention of recurrent problems.
